I lost my Qatari mobile SIM Card...

I forgot it in Golden Tulip yesterday, and we had to drive back to find it only to be greeted with the same I-do-not-smile Omani Receptionist. He gave me the key to the room I used to stay in and told me to "go check yourself". The electricity was off however, so Blue & I had to get to the 3rd floor using the darkly lit stairway. We got to the room which, according to the I-do-not-smile Omani receptionist, "was not touched" only to find it in fact touched and scrubbed by the hotel cleaning staff. I searched everywhere for the SIM card but with no avail...

Now I am in Shangri La, this place is amazing. Driving to this place was an adventure, it was like I was in a real life roller-coaster that I had (in)complete control of.

We are off to Sohar today. It's going to be a long drive without any good music on.

Live-blogging from the Ministry of Legal Affairs...

It's quite interesting. I was staying in the Golden Tulip Hotel overnight and I was greeted with typical Omani manner (no smile). I woke up in the morning, took a shower, and the electricity out around 3 times after I got out. It was interesting.

I was waiting for Blue Chi to pick me up only to hear a knock on the door. I opened the door and found a member of the hotel staff... the conversation went something like this:

Me: Hi!

Hotel Staff: ...

After an awkward few seconds, I remembered something Blue Chi told me about Omani nationals working here.

Me: Marhaba...

Omani Hotel Staff: When are you leaving?

Me: in 30 minutes.

Omani Hotel Staff turned around and started knocking at the opposite room's door.

Me: (Do I have to leave now?) in Arabic.

Omani hotel staff: (No.) in Arabic.

I closed the door. And waited for Blue chi to get me out of that place. In the reception, the Omani guy behind the counter did not smile once. Blue Chi told me that its probably because he did not have breakfast. I, on the other hand, believe that he was almost going to smile just after he said "thanks that's all" to us but then realized, it would take too much energy so instead he started shuffling his empty envelopes. I feel right at home here.

Also, Cafe Glaciers was good!

P.S. We embedded a calendar of our current agenda for the next few days. It will be updated constantly.

I am flying to Oman tonight...

My intention is to live blog my 3 days in Oman using my mobile phone. Blue-Chi (the person I am visiting and the prime reason why I am going to Oman) and I, will be using this blog as a kind of live blogging 3-day bonanza! Documenting everything I come across in Oman through the eyes of a Qatari. Every night we will list what our latest program of places we are going to visit the next day (including estimated times, locations in Muscat etc), so if you want to witness a Qatari specimen walking amongst you just make sure to keep visiting this blog throughout these upcoming three days (Tue 29th till Fri 1st of Aug). Also, I would love to meet my readers and fellow bloggers who happen to be in Oman. So if you happen to be in Oman during that time and have some free time to kill plus willingness to meet a Qatari nobody with his fellow Omani friend; you will know where & how to find us.

In any case, welcome to this blog.
